(Science, Theology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)

    • STREAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Theology, Reading, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics to process and enhance students' understanding of the world around them. The implementation of STREAM fosters student engagement through inquiry-based learning while encouraging and promoting dialogue, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. By blending all areas of academics with cross-curricular experiences, students are prepared for the 21st century.

The Robotics Science Program utilizes these skills to strengthen and reinforce the students' classroom experience. While using advanced technologies such as humanoid robots to include NAO and Pepper, differentiated learning is redefined through hands-on tools improving determination and perseverance. Confidence in future technologies is achievable by programmable artificial intelligence and autonomous life.

      Educational Essentials:

      • Responsibility and self-management
      • Communicative and social skills
      • Independent and collaborative work
      • Critical-thinking and problem-solving
      • Advanced technological and robotic science
      • Technological innovation
      • Coding and programming
      • Enhances real-world applications
      • Reflects Diocesan, state, and national standards

        • Snow Blizzard Lab

The "Snow Blizzard in a jar" experiment is a simple science activity where you create the appearance of a snowstorm by filling a jar with water, food coloring, glitter, baby oil, and an Alka-Seltzer tablet. You drop the tablet into the mixture, which causes fizzy gas bubbles to look like falling snow.

          Materials:
          - Clear Jar
          - Water
          - Baby Oil
          - Food Coloring
          - Glitter
          - Alka-Seltzer tablet

          Science Behind it:
          - Density difference: Oil and water do not mix together. Oil is less heavy than water, so it floats on top.
          - Chemical reaction: When the Alka-Seltzer tablet dissolves, it releases gas bubbles which rise through the oil. The gas bubbles are from carbon dioxide. The bubbles carry tiny droplets of the colored water &glitter with them, making it look like falling snow.

        • Heat and Energy Transfer Lab

Our 7th grade physical science class is learning about energy and energy transformations. They've learned that heat is energy which moves and transfers in three ways: conduction, convection and radiation.

In this lab they observed the effects of each type of heat transfer on marshmallows in order to better understand the key differences in how heat moves between objects. This investigation included the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data where through the use of the scientific method  our students were able to explore their energy vocabulary words in an engaging way.
