    • Full-Time Assistant Principal

      Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking an energetic and accomplished candidate for the role of Assistant Principal. This is a full-time in-person leadership position, working closely with students, classroom teachers, parents, and is responsible for various aspects of daily and long-range success of the school. The ideal candidate should be passionate about sharing the Catholic faith and demonstrate a commitment to advance the mission of the school.

      Responsibilities:

      • Daily communication with the principal, office staff, and leadership team regarding any new, upcoming, or ongoing tasks.

      • Coordinate scheduling of substitute teachers and staff personnel.

      • Communicate effectively with faculty/staff/parents/families through telephone and electronic mail; experience with FACTS/SIS desired.

      • Support with monitoring instructional and academic planning throughout the school; experience with routine classroom observation desired.

      • Assist with the scheduling, including the creation of regular schedules and special schedules for events.

      • Assist with planning and implementing school-wide events and assemblies.

      • Leading new teacher mentorship and coordinating professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.

      • Monitor and participate in student centered instructional strategies/learning support meetings.

      • Student engagement and monitoring discipline.

      • Serve as school leadership in the absence of the principal.

      • Other duties as assigned by the principal.

      Qualifications/Experience Required:

      • Education/certification must have at a minimum Master’s degree in Education; administration/supervision.

      • Must possess or be eligible for licensure in Virginia with an endorsement in School Administration/Leadership Pk-12 required

      • Highly organized, motivated, and demonstrate a collaborative leadership approach.

      • Minimum of 5yrs. classroom teaching experience in a Catholic school preferred

      • Experience in supporting students with learning challenges.

      • Experience with science of reading/balanced literacy approach to learning.

      • Experience with positive behavior intervention strategies.

      • Computer literate and technologically proficient.

      • Ability to communicate using electronic mail, telephone, and in person with parents and colleagues

      Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year (beginning July 1, 2026)

    • Middle School Theology Teacher and Religion Coordinator

      Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking an experienced Middle School Theology Teacher and Religion Coordinator for in-person teaching and learning during the 2026-2027 school year. Saint John the Apostle Catholic School is a parochial school closely affiliated with Saint John the Apostle Church This position has dual roles: as the Middle School Theology teacher an applicant must be experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans based on the Diocese of Richmond Consensus Curriculum which encompasses subjects including Sacred Scripture, Church History, Morality, the Sacraments, and Christian Life. The Middle School Theology courses seek to help students grow both intellectually and spiritually with regards to the Catholic faith. As the Religion Coordinator, an applicant must have experience maintaining contact with the Diocese regarding the implementation of the Theology curriculum, separate teacher certification and development for the Religion/Theology teachers of the school, as well as collaborate with school administration and pastor on the spiritual life of the school. The Religion Coordinator will assist in preparing and coordinating school Masses, prayer services, and other religious events in the life of the school. They are to aid in the training of students to act as ushers and lectors for school Masses. Additionally, they will seek to develop retreat opportunities for students and staff as directed by school  administration.

      Qualifications:

      • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing

      • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in theology; required

      • 4 yrs. experience in working within a middle school religion program; desired

      • Maintains high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church Computer literate and technologically proficient

      • Highly organized and motivated

      Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year (begins mid-August 2026)

      Salary/Hours: Diocesan Hourly (35hrs./week)

    • Early Learner (3 yrs.) Teacher

      Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Early Learner teacher for in-person teaching and learning for the 2026-2027 school year. Eligible candidates should possess a Child Development Associate credential. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic role models who are passionate about sharing the Catholic faith, have experience in supporting student's learning through developmentally appropriate educational activities and lessons, hands-on experiences, and play based learning to spark creativity. Create an inviting, meaningful and safe learning environment. Work in partnership with other staff, parents, and students. Communicate effectively and demonstrate a commitment to advance the mission of the school.

      Qualifications:

      • Requires a minimum of a Child Development Associate (Early Childhood Education)

      • Must have 4yrs. of early learner’s classroom experience as the lead teacher

      • Computer literate and technologically proficient.

      • Highly organized and motivated.

      • Ability to fulfill all competencies required by the Diocese of Richmond and Commonwealth of Virginia

    • Part-Time Art Teacher

      Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking enthusiastic and creative Art teacher for in-person teaching and learning for remaining 2026-2027 school year. Responsible for creating a classroom environment to develop an interest in, and the ability for, creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the students' interests and abilities; and to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith, capable of working collaboratively with colleagues, experience using 21st century technology tools, student centered instructional strategies, and demonstrate a commitment to advance the mission of the school.

      Qualifications:

      • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an approved program for general education (K-8) preferred with licensure eligibility/endorsement in Art

      • 3 yrs. of teaching experience is preferred

      • Highly organized and motivated

      • Must be eligible and/or apply for teacher licensure in Virginia

      Eligible candidates should possess or be able to apply for VA teacher license. The successful candidate should be passionate about sharing the Catholic faith, have experience in supporting student's learning through world language developmentally appropriate educational activities and lessons, assessments, and hands-on experiences.
