Responsibilities:

Support with monitoring instructional and academic planning throughout the school; experience with routine classroom observation desired.

Assist with planning and implementing school-wide events and assemblies.
Leading new teacher mentorship and coordinating professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.
Monitor and participate in student centered instructional strategies/learning support meetings.
Student engagement and monitoring discipline.
Serve as school leadership in the absence of the principal.
Other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Education/certification must have at a minimum Master’s degree in Education; administration/supervision.
Must possess or be eligible for licensure in Virginia with an endorsement in School Administration/Leadership Pk-12 required
Highly organized, motivated, and demonstrate a collaborative leadership approach.
Minimum of 5yrs. classroom teaching experience in a Catholic school preferred
Experience in supporting students with learning challenges.
Experience with science of reading/balanced literacy approach to learning.
Experience with positive behavior intervention strategies.
Computer literate and technologically proficient.
Ability to communicate using electronic mail, telephone, and in person with parents and colleagues

Middle School Theology Teacher and Religion Coordinator
Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach, VA is currently seeking an experienced Middle School Theology Teacher and Religion Coordinator for in-person teaching and learning during the 2026-2027 school year. Saint John the Apostle Catholic School is a parochial school closely affiliated with Saint John the Apostle Church This position has dual roles: as the Middle School Theology teacher an applicant must be experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans based on the Diocese of Richmond Consensus Curriculum which encompasses subjects including Sacred Scripture, Church History, Morality, the Sacraments, and Christian Life. The Middle School Theology courses seek to help students grow both intellectually and spiritually with regards to the Catholic faith. As the Religion Coordinator, an applicant must have experience maintaining contact with the Diocese regarding the implementation of the Theology curriculum, separate teacher certification and development for the Religion/Theology teachers of the school, as well as collaborate with school administration and pastor on the spiritual life of the school. The Religion Coordinator will assist in preparing and coordinating school Masses, prayer services, and other religious events in the life of the school. They are to aid in the training of students to act as ushers and lectors for school Masses. Additionally, they will seek to develop retreat opportunities for students and staff as directed by school administration.
