Saint John the Apostle Catholic School is a parochial school closely affiliated with Saint John the Apostle Church This position has dual roles: as the Middle School Theology teacher an applicant must be experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans based on the Diocese of Richmond Consensus Curriculum which encompasses subjects including Sacred Scripture, Church History, Morality, the Sacraments, and Christian Life. The Middle School Theology courses seek to help students grow both intellectually and spiritually with regards to the Catholic faith. As the Religion Coordinator, an applicant must have experience maintaining contact with the Diocese regarding the implementation of the Theology curriculum, separate teacher certification and development for the Religion/Theology teachers of the school, as well as collaborate with school administration and pastor on the spiritual life of the school. The Religion Coordinator will assist in preparing and coordinating school Masses, prayer services, and other religious events in the life of the school. They are to aid in the training of students to act as ushers and lectors for school Masses. Additionally, they will seek to develop retreat opportunities for students and staff as directed by school  administration.

Qualifications:

• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in theology; required

• 4 yrs. experience in working within a middle school religion program; desired
