Military life brought Laura and her family to Virginia Beach in the Fall of 2005. After many years at Star of the Sea, they found their home at St. John the Apostle in 2016. Laura, a life-long Catholic, and her husband Ted have been married for 26 years and have 2 adult children: Sophia is a medical professional, working in Northern Virginia, and Logan is starting his career in law enforcement with the Virginia Beach Police Academy. Attending the Women’s CRHP/Welcome retreat in the Fall of 2019, during an especially challenging transition period, Laura’s spiritual life came alive in a new and unexpected way. Allowing the Holy Spirit to be her guide and saying “yes”, especially when being pushed out of her comfort zone, has paved the way for a new adventure of serving and glorifying the Lord in service to this faith community. She currently serves as a Mentor for CRHP/Welcome and as Confirmation small group leader, is active in Youth Ministry and assists in various other ministries. She is passionate about Pro-Life issues and previously worked for a pregnancy resource center, assisting young women choosing life for their babies and themselves, and is currently volunteering at the Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads. She looks forward to serving the SJA community in a new way as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council.
